Interview: Klaus and Pepper

Pets, they’re your best friend and confidant. Big or small, fluffy or a bit scruffy, it doesn’t matter, we love them all. They’re there for you unconditionally and the feeling is mutual. Our interview series celebrates this special bond between animals and hoomans. Let the awws begin.

Hooman: Denise

Doggo: Klaus (10 years old) and Pepper (1 year 3 months old)

Home: Vancouver, Canada

Klaus is from Langley, BC (Canada) and he chose me! When I went to visit his litter on the farm he wouldn’t stop following me around. I had my heart set on his brother, and because I had first pick I chose his brother. But after sleeping on it, I realised he was the one for me. His breeder was relieved that I made the right choice. It’s kismet.

I initially wanted to name Klaus, Pudding. Only to find that it did not suit his bossy personality. He’s like a grumpy bossy old man, but loves people and attention.

He likes to hide tea candles. He will take brand new ones off the table and put them in shoes, slippers, under tables. If he doesn’t know where to hide them he will hold them in his mouth and whimper. He’s a funny old man.

Pepper is from Yakima, Washington (USA). Klaus’ breeder found Pepper for us! We had a road trip planned for Portland, OR. On our way there, we took a detour to Yakima and just couldn’t resist bringing her home with us!

Pepper was supposed to be named Daisy, but she’s just too fiery, like a little chilli pepper! Once Pepper bumped her head while running and not looking forward. It was so cute but so worrisome as her head made an empty tok sound! She was a little dazed, but recovered quickly! Another time she tripped while running up the steps and she was sprawled out like a mini carpet. It all happened so fast, but she was adorable! As mentioned, she’s fiery!

I also love her fascination with flying things. She’s always looking up at the sky and watching the birds fly. It’s just so pure and wonderful.

Since bringing the two home, I feel I have purpose now. Klaus saved me, and now with Pepper I have even more purpose. I love them both so much because they are just so good! We go on daily walks to Killarney Park in Vancouver, eat, sleep, play, repeat. Oh, also visits with the grandpawrents, who else will spoil them?
