Interview: Mozzie

Pets, they’re your best friend and confidant. Big or small, fluffy or a bit scruffy, it doesn’t matter, we love them all. They’re there for you unconditionally and the feeling is mutual. Our interview series celebrates this special bond between animals and hoomans. Let the awws begin.

Doggo: Mozart aka Mozzie (less than 5 months), an Australian Labradoodle

Mozzie got his name from White Collar (USA Network) My husband, Tim, and I binged watched the TV show when covid lockdown in London started. We watched it back at home, but decided to rewatch it again because we love the characters so much. Our favourite character is the con-artist named Mozart (aka "Mozzie") who has a kind heart but also can be very cheeky, just like our pup.

Mozzie is always eager for attention, love, and belly rubs. He loves to fetch and sleep under the couch. He's still warming up to new humans, animals, and city sounds, so who knows how his personality will change over time.

Since Mozzie is still a puppy, his days mostly involve napping. Mozzie starts his day by waking mom (me) up in the morning and wanting all the belly rubs in the world. He eats, then plays fetch for 10-20 minutes. Then, he crashes under the couch for 2-3 hours and repeats this cycle about 2-3 more times throughout the day.

We've been teaching Mozzie obedience commands and it’s been really funny. As he was still young and was learning them earlier than usual, once when I told him to "sit," he did sit, but faced his back towards me and his head away from him. I'm not sure what he was accomplishing there.

Mozzie has brought more laughter, discipline, and sometimes frustration to our home. But it's all worth it to see him grow and be happy. No matter what accidental mistakes we make as Mozzie's parents, he's eager to forgive and forget. It's amazing to re-learn the world and its details through his perspective.
