Interview: Bailey
Pets, they’re your best friend and confidant. Big or small, fluffy or a bit scruffy, it doesn’t matter, we love them all. They’re there for you unconditionally and the feeling is mutual. Our interview series celebrates this special bond between animals and hoomans. Let the awws begin.
Doggo: Bailey (2 years olds) aka Pup, BaileyBoo and The Goodest Girl
Home: Cape Town, South Africa
We always had dogs growing up but my husband and I never had a dog together. For our fourth wedding anniversary we decided it was time and we started looking at prospective breeds as we live in an apartment, which means we could only choose breeds under a certain height. After a ton of research about different breeds, we settled on a cocker spaniel (it was definitely the ears that made us fall in love with them).
We had to take a five hour road trip from Cape Town to a town called George to fetch her. I held her all the way home for five hours straight, then when we got into our apartment she walked in like she owned the place... which pretty much hasn't changed in the last two years.
Bailey's name was picked out before we even thought about getting a dog. She is, in one word, a DIVA. Bailey is definitely the Queen B at home and at her daycare. She's friendly, playful and loveable, but also likes everything on her own terms. She's also a world class landscaper... digging holes and trimming (munching) all our plants.
A typical day for Bailey is like this: Wake up when my mom wakes up and then makes sure dad wakes up by licking his face. Then I wait for mom to pack my breakfast and treatos for daycare. Then I take a nap whilst mom and dad get ready for work, and after that dad gets me into my harness and we are off to daycare. At daycare I play with all my furfriends, eat my breakfast, chase the ball and play with some toys, nap for a bit and then have some treatos, play more and then it's time to go home and cuddle with mom and dad.
It's hard to choose one thing, but if we have to, the one thing we love most about Bailey is definitely her excited face and her waggy tail after a long day.
Since bringing Bailey home, our lives have changed for the better, it's forced us to be outdoorsy. We also consider her needs before our own! She's our baby!
